Our goals are to focus on improving our business skills through:

  • participating in local craft shows
  • sharing selling and marketing opportunities
  • networking
  • self and cross promoting
  • local exposure through newspaper and magazine and on-line articles
  • learning to harness social media and blogging

Although the Guild is based in South Orange and Maplewood, we are also extending the invitation to our neighboring towns in northern New Jersey.

History
After a participating in the craft show – Maplewoodstock, artists Katie Clayton of Sew Crafty and Ann Vollum of Beastly Beasties realized the need for a group to help stay focused on the business side of their craft; on improving business skills; sharing marketing tips and helping each other to reach their goals
The Guild was founded in August 2009 to help artisans promote and sell their work both locally and online.

The first few meetings served to highlight the need for more core team members to help ensure the smooth running of the group.
Alison Oxman of Semi-Precious joined as Communications Director and Jo Bradney as Webmistress
